Speed and alcohol are believed to have been contributing factors in a New Year’s Day single-vehicle crash that killed a 41-year-old Aspermont man, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Curtis Lynn Wampler died as a result of the accident on Highway 6 near the FM 600 intersection near Avoca.
Wampler's car reportedly drove off the highway and into a dry creek bed. It struck a concrete wall, State Police have said.
In an email, State Police spokesman Frederick Biddle said blood test results are pending.
“The crash was discovered by a farmer who was driving by in a tractor several hours after the crash occurred,” Biddle said in the email.
