A traffic stop in Early for a DWI led to a high speed chase and ended in a crash in Rising Star Monday night.
Early police said they followed the driver, Joshua Anthony Silvers, 30, who sped up to 100 miles per hour as he headed to Rising Star.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Public Safety assisted Early law enforcement in the highway speed chase. The Brown County Sheriff's Office reportedly laid spike strips on the highway, which deflated the front tires of Silvers' car.
Once in Rising Star, Silvers ultimately crashed into a parked pick-up and into the side of someone's house. No one inside the house was hurt.
Rising Star Fire Department and Eastland County EMS had to rescue Silvers from his vehicle before he was eventually airlifted to Abilene's Hendricks Hospital with a cervical fracture.
Officers said Silvers smelled of alcohol. They also found open containers of alcohol in his car. The police report stated "warrants will be sought for Felony DWI and Felony evading arrest".
