Dyess We Care Team celebrated their volunteers on Saturday night at their 14th annual banquet.
The We Care Team has more than 500 volunteers and they were honored with dinner and awards.
They work on about 50 projects a year, including painting houses, building ramps for those in need and partnering with other organizations for fundraisers.
Gordon Storey, the founder of the organization, said not only are they helping the community, but teaching the airmen valuable lessons.
"There's always gonna be people that legitimately need some additional assistance, they need some help," Storey said. "It also gives our Dyess airmen a great opportunity to practice leadership by leading up these projects and also to interact with the community they've kind of adopted."
Volunteer of the year and volunteer squadron of the year were honored at the banquet.
