ABILENE, Texas -

Abilene high is coming off one of their worst seasons in recent history, and the Eagles are poised for a bounce back season. They finished 3-7 in 2013, missing the playoffs for the first time since 1998.

But since the end of last year, the culture has changed. Abilene high is focused on bouncing back, and in a big way.

The Eagles had a solid spring camp, and made a trip to Aggie land for the state seven on seven tournament, where they swept pool play. Meanwhile the big boys did work at Hardin-Simmons lineman challenge right here in the Abilene.

That bad taste from last season has carried over and left the Eagles determined to fix that this fall.

"Our leadership developed over the spring really well," said Head Coach Steve Warren. "Then we carried the momentum of executing really well throughout spring ball into the summer with seven on sevens and our lineman challenge. Those guys did really well. We've got some good momentum from those things, a very positive summer and spring, and looking forward to transferring that into the fall here in a couple of weeks."
