Abilene police and fire responded to a one vehicle accident early this morning along the southbound lanes of Winters Freeway. It happened a little after 1 a.m. this morning.
According to police, the driver of the car was headed north on Winters.
Authorities say that the driver was reaching for her purse when she clipped a guardrail, over corrected and spun into the south bound lane—slamming into a fenced metal railing.
Traffic was at a stand still as first responders assisted the driver. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
The scene was cleared about 3 a.m. and the roadway is back to normal this morning.
