It was a beautiful day for the Labor Day holiday Monday.
KTXS went to Johnson Park by Lake Fort Phantom and found families having a picnic and grilling.
There were also people out on Lake Fort Phantom on their jet ski's as well as people walking their dogs.
We spoke to Ted Spalding, of Hamlin, who says Labor Day is all about spending time with family.
"It means everything to be able to spend time with them," said Spalding. "I just thoroughly enjoy it. We don't get to see them that often and so when they do get to come we try to spend what time we can with them."
Labor Day celebrates the American worker and is our national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of the country.
It became a federal holiday in 1894.
