DALLAS (AP) -

A Dallas woman faces 7 years in federal prison for taking in a runaway teenage girl and helping her engage in prostitution.

A federal judge on Monday sentenced 24-year-old Erin Patton on one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of children.

Prosecutors say a 14-year-old girl first met Patton in September 2012, and that Patton gave the girl a cell phone so she could advertise online and drove her to meetings with johns. In exchange, Patton received a cut of the money the girl collected.

Patton continued to do so until the girl came into contact with undercover Dallas police officers.

Patton and her boyfriend, Keith Williams, have both pleaded guilty to charges in the case. Williams is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
