ABILENE, Texas -

High school students in Abilene Independent School District will start having final exams again after a two-year break.

For students, that means high-school credit courses will have a final exam that counts for 10 percent of the semester grade.

The teacher-driven proposal approved by the AISD school board comes after the state reduced the number of end-of-course tests from 15 to five.

The District Improvement Plan, which includes activities tdesigned to improve state test scores and close achievement gaps, was also approved by the board.
