ABILENE, tEXAS -

UPDATE: The Abilene Fire Department tells KTXS News the fire that destroyed the Pioneer Drive home Monday night was caused by a discarded cigarette near the front door. Fire officials also say the home is a total loss, but no damage estimate is available at this time.

Fire destroyed a home on Pioneer Drive on Monday night.  The fire call went out about 7 p.m.

The fire was at a house in the Westgate Mobile Home Park on South Pioneer Drive.

When firefighters arrived on the scene there was a lot of smoke and the porch of the home was on fire.  A woman who lives there was home but got out safely.

Traffic was stopped on Pioneer for about three blocks.

Firefighters said the home is heavily damaged. No one was injured and the cause is not known.

The investigation into the cause continues.
