Several people have been safely rescued from the roof of a burning two-story apartment building in South Texas.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department used ladders to help with Tuesday night's rescue.
Officials say one person was transported to a hospital to be checked out as a precaution.
Fire department Capt. James Brown said investigators believe the blaze started on the second floor. Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the fire that displaced more than a dozen people. No estimate was available on damage mainly to the interior of the structure.
The American Red Cross will help the affected residents.
