Two homes were destroyed, two sheds burned completely, and two other homes were damaged by a large fire at Lake Colorado City.

The fire broke out late Tuesday afternoon on Lake County Road 252 – on the south side of the lake.

Colorado City firefighters then called for mutual aid, and Loraine and Westbrook volunteer fire departments were called to assist with the rapidly spreading fire.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, but one woman lost her home and all her belongings. The other destroyed home was a vacation home.

Authorities said high winds played a major role in how many homes were damaged.
