Saturday got off to a wet and chilly start in Abilene and around many parts of the Big Country.
The rain started just after 7 a.m. as a cold front moved through the area.
That weather brought impressive and much needed rainfall totals. Most parts of the area saw more than an inch.
The usual low water crossings were flooded throughout much of the day.

Just six inches of standing water will reach the bottom of most compact cars. A foot of water will float many compact vehicles, and two feet of rushing water can sweep away most cars.
