DALLAS (AP) -

Fort Hood officials plan to demolish the medical building where 13 people were killed and more than 30 others were wounded during a shooting rampage in 2009.

Fort Hood spokesman Chris Haug said Wednesday that Building 42003 will be razed, while other parts of the Soldier Readiness Processing Center complex are set to be moved.

Haug said officials haven't decided what to do with the site once the building is removed. The widow of one victim says she'd like to see a park at the site.

The area has been fenced off as a crime scene since Nov. 5, 2009, when Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan opened fire inside the building and left dying soldiers and pools of blood on the floor.

Hasan was convicted in August and sentenced to death.
