A grand jury has declined to indict Angelo State University's police chief who was charged with misdemeanor boating while intoxicated over Memorial Day weekend.
A grand jury on Monday no-billed Chief James Adams. The San Angelo Standard-Times reported school officials Tuesday said Adams, who was put on desk duty after the incident, would resume his regular duties.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said Adams was operating a personal watercraft at Lake Nasworthy. Adams was jailed in San Angelo on May 25 and released on bond the following day.
The newspaper reported Adams failed a field sobriety test. No blood sample was taken because there was no accident.
Adams said he's pleased to learn that the impartial review of the facts by the grand jury resulted in a no-bill.
