HAMLIN, Texas -

A declining population has the Hamlin ISD considering it's future.

Hamlin ISD leaders held a community meeting this week. They are trying to come up with options to balance shrinking enrollment, state accountability testing, school safety, and their deficit.

One of about eight ideas being considered is to move 7th and 8th grade students to the high school building.

Sixth grade students would stay at the elementary school.

Parents are being asked to fill out surveys . More community meetings are expected, according to the Hamlin ISD Superintendent.
