Big Country high school football two-a day’s continued on Tuesday, as K-Texas traveled up north to Indians country where Haskell is on a mission.
The Indians are coming off one of their worst seasons with a record of just 2-8 on the year and they went win-less in the district. The reason was tanks to an abundance of injuries.
Haskell's journey back to the playoffs begins in 2014 with second year starting quarterback Dylan Hanson, and a very experienced defense led by all-district defensive back Ryan Pace.
The Indians are confident that last season will be just a distant memory.
"We have a good chance to make the playoffs this year,” stated quarterback Dylan Hanson. “We're under-estimated, and we're big in heart, and that's what will lead this team to the playoffs.
For coach Grady Benton, he’s thankful his roster will return to full.
What happened last year, we didn't have our players,” said Benton. “Our players were hurt. Just like anybody you talk to, your team's got to stay healthy, and when somebody goes down, someone's going to have to step up. Depth is going to be a great thing we have, and be able to rely on, if need be."
