Dyess Air Force Base and Hendrick Medical Center prepared for the worst as the hospital hosted their first tornado drill.

A tornado can strike in a moment’s notice. Drills like these are necessary, according to organizers.

Taylor said, "It's one of those things that if you do not prepare for a tornado disaster, you never know when it's going to happen."

Preparing for a tornado involves more than one agency.

"In a major casualty the staff or the (emergency room) cannot absorb all the extra casualties," Clinton Taylor said. "So, you're going to need additional support from other locations throughout the hospital."
