A Taylor County jury sentenced a Clyde man to 48 years in prison Monday for cutting another man’s throat in 2011.
Cecil Holland, 51, was arrested for aggravated assault in April 2011 after he allegedly stabbed the victim during a fight on Butternut Street in Abilene.
Family members of the victim said the victim has had multiple surgeries since the incident.
The jury decided on a guilty verdict Friday and was called back to the Taylor County Courthouse Monday morning for the punishment phase. They decided on a 48-year prison sentence just before 4:30 p.m.
