HOUSTON (AP) -

Jury selection is beginning in the capital murder trial of a 23-year-old man accused of killing a Houston-area police officer and business owner on Christmas Eve 2012.

The lead attorney for Harlem Harold Lewis III, Pat McCann, tells the Houston Chronicle he expects Lewis to be convicted of fatally shooting Bellaire officer Jimmie Norman and auto body shop owner Terry Taylor. But McCann said he'll focus on convincing jurors Lewis should be given life without parole rather than a death sentence.

Norman had pulled over Lewis for a traffic violation, got into a struggle with Lewis and was shot. Taylor came out of his shop to see what was going on, tried to help Norman and was fatally shot in the back.
