KTXS Forecast: Slow warming trend

ABILENE, Texas - After clearing skies throughout the day, expect building cloud cover overnight. Lows will be more mild than last night. Expect lows into the mid to upper 50s. Winds will remain from the south/southwest at 10 to 15 mph. 

By morning, a weak cold front will have worked into the western counties of the Big Country. Areas behind the front will see a wind shift to the north at about 15 mph. Cloud cover and rain chances build into the morning and light rain and drizzle will be expected through much of the day. Highs will warm to the mid to upper 60s. Rain chances continue overnight and into Monday. Lows will be in the low 50s. 

Monday, expect patchy drizzle and light rain to continue through the morning and begin to clear by the early afternoon. Cloud cover will remain but areas will start to dry out. Highs will be in the mid 60s to low 70s. Winds will return to the south at 10 to 15 mph. Lows will be in the upper 50s. 

Tuesday, skies begin to clear out and the sun warms us back into the mid to upper 70s. Winds pick up from the south at 10 to 15 mph. Lows overnight will be mild again in the low 60s. 

Wednesday, a weak front will make its way through the area in the afternoon, keeping our temperatures in check. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Winds will shift to the north at 10 to 15 mph. Lows will be in the low 50s. 

By Thursday, winds will be back from the south at 10 to 15 mph and temperatures warm near 80 under mostly sunny skies. Lows will be in the upper 50s. 

Our next front is expected to move through Friday, bringing our temperatures back down to average.
