Police say two South African men are suspected of pelting a farmworker to death with oranges.

The Associate Press reports that police Lt. Col. Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspects allegedly argued with the man, then collected oranges and began throwing them at him. Witnesses in Tzaneen, a northern South African town, reported the incident.

The man was declared dead at the scene and may have suffered blunt trauma, according to Ngoepe.

Ngoepe said that an investigation was underway, and that police and prosecutors are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
