An insurance organization estimates damage from the hailstorm that wrecked Abilene last month to reach $400 million.
The storm featuring baseball-sized hail left home and buildings with roof and window damage, while many cars suffered broken windshields.
“This is the worst storm damage I’ve seen in my 41 years in the insurance business,” said Leroy Perkins, of the Perkins Insurance Agency, in an Insurance Council of Texas news release.
The catastrophic event was worse than a hailstorm three years ago that also caused much damage. On Easter Sunday in 2011, softball-sized hail struck Abilene.
