Police: Suspect in Texas rapes arrested in Louisiana
Police say a crime-watch volunteer suspected of raping at least four women in Dallas has been arrested in Louisiana.
Dallas Police Maj. Jeff Cotner said federal agents arrested 38-year-old Van Draylan Dixson on Tuesday at a motel in Baton Rouge, La.
Police believe one man sexually assaulted as many as nine women this summer in Dallas' Fair Park neighborhood, near downtown.
Investigators have said DNA evidence has linked Dixson to four of those attacks. Test results from other attacks are pending.
Cotner said "contacts" between Dixson and individuals in Dallas helped track him to a motel more than 400 miles away. Cotner said Dixson is jailed awaiting his return to Dallas, but that no further details would be released until Wednesday.
Neighbors said Dixson was a crime-watch volunteer who regularly patrolled the area.
