Abilene’s Big Brothers Big Sisters is preparing to take on a splash of color this August. The Run or Dye 5K race has selected Big Brothers Big Sisters as their non-profit partner in Abilene. Run or Dye is the world’s most colorful race for thousands of walkers and runners.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is an organization which provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring roll models.
In August, Run or Dye Abilene will draw in thousands of participants from across the area and into the Big Country to run or walk, all while being blasted with more than five tons of colorful dye powders. Ending the race participants will be color blasted in the closing ceremony known as “Color Festival”. Abilene is only one of only 6 cities in Texas to host this unique colorful 5K.
The Run or Dye 5K race will take place in Abilene August 17th. Registration for the event is currently open. In order to help benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters runners and race volunteers simply need to enter the code RODBBBS10 the code will also give participants a $10 dollar discount on registration fee. Michelle Parrish of Big Brothers Big Sisters said volunteers are still needed.
