A suspected trespasser at a Central Texas archaeological site has died after falling about 60 feet into an Austin ravine while being chased by a game warden.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department spokesman Mike Cox says the incident happened Wednesday in an area not accessible to the public. Another man was detained on possible trespassing and other charges.
Cox says two men were located at the site, which has been known to yield Native American items, and one ran away but ended up falling into the ravine. The injured man was transported to an Austin hospital, where he later died.
The area is part of an 80-acre site called the Lancaster Tract that's owned by the city.
Names of the two men haven't been released.
