A Northeast Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for the beating death of his 21-year-old girlfriend who was the mother of his three children.
The Texarkana Gazette reports 21-year-old Justin Donnell Wright of Hooks was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to murder in a plea deal.
Police say Whitney Nicole Hanes was stabbed and beaten last August in a domestic dispute while outside a home in Hooks, about 15 miles west of Texarkana.
An officer who transported Wright to jail reported that the boyfriend believed Hanes was pregnant and asked if he would face two counts of murder. A medical examiner determined the victim was not expecting another child.
Wright must serve 30 years before becoming eligible for parole.
