In lieu of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Chamber of Commerce hosted their 6th Annual "Business Mercado" at the Abilene Civic Center on Saturday.

Local Hispanic-owned businesses networked and showcased their services to the community. The event had live music and booths filled with games and freebies. Business representatives also handed out brochures and other information about their companies.

Although this event was fun, the purpose was to highlight Hispanic businesses and the impact they have on Abilene and  the Big Country.

"What we're trying to do is we're trying to show the Hispanic community that there are a lot of businesses that have benefits for them and services that they can benefit from as well," Daniel Ortiz, co-chair of the Business Mercado said.
