A hearing to decide whether to grant a liquor license to an Abilene liquor store hasn't been set – at least as of Thursday.
Some residents next to FILO Liquors – ust off of Buffalo Gap Road between Antilley Road and FM 707 – filed a protest with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission saying they didn't want a liquor store on their residential street.
Taylor County Judge Downing Bolls, who will preside over the case, said he was informed Monday that an official protest would arrive at his office soon, but he hasn't received it yet.
After Bolls receives the protest, he said he'll schedule a hearing in 10 to 14 days, so both parties have time to research the case.
According to state law, it's the County Judge's decision whether to allow liquor sales after a protest is filed.
