Abilene firefighters on Wednesday battled a two-alarm blaze at a two-story house in the 1500 block of Locust Street.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and fire were showing from the home. Firefighters worked for more than an hour to bring the blaze under control, an Abilene Fire Department news release said.
“It appears that the fire started from a shed located near the covered parking area, but the investigation is ongoing at this time,” the news release said.
One individual was treated at the scene for difficulty breathing, but no transport was required. No firefighters were hurt in the blaze.
Thirteen pieces of Abilene Fire Department equipment responded to the scene.
Because of the fire, police urged Abilenians to avoid the area near Locust and South 14th streets.
"If in area, do NOT drive over fire hoses," the Abilene Police Department said on Twitter.
