EARLY, Texas -

Two Brownwood women have been arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of an elderly person who recently moved to a nursing home and boxing up items for removal.

Jennifer Rena Crow, 36, and Amy Teresa Platter, 33, were arrested and booked Wednesday into Brown County Jail for burglary of a habitation, jail records show.

According to a news release, Early police arrived on the scene after receiving a call of two women “acting suspiciously” in the 700 block of Longhorn Drive in Early.

Authorities learned the occupant of the residence recently started residing in a nursing home.

“Officers heard a noise inside the residence but could not get anyone to respond,” Mercer said.

The two women were found hiding from officers inside.

Mercer said the investigation continues.

“There is believed to be a third individual who is involved but wasn’t at the scene,” Mercer said.
