More than 10 volunteer fire departments have been fighting the Camp Barkeley fire for what is now entering its third day.

Donations such as food and water are much appreciated but one concern is funding after the fire is over.

These all-volunteer departments will need financial assistance after the ongoing blaze eventually ends.

“Departments are going to need funding to repair broken trucks,” said Taylor County Sheriff Ricky Bishop, who also serves as the Views fire department chief. “Any monetary donations will be greatly appreciated.”

If you’re not able to donate financially, volunteering would be a great option.

“Departments are also hurting for membership,” Bishop said. “So I would encourage everyone to volunteer.”
