HOUSTON (AP) -

An Amber Alert has been canceled after an 8-month-old girl who was in a car stolen from a Houston gas station was found unharmed.

Houston police say a jogger on Monday morning heard a baby crying and discovered Genesis Haley, still in her car seat, in a brushy area. Police say the baby appears unhurt but she was taken to a hospital to be examined.

The mother told police that she left Genesis in the vehicle around 1 a.m. CDT Monday while going into the station to pay for some gas. The mom then saw her vehicle being driven away. The car was later found abandoned but Genesis and her car seat were gone.

Police say the girl was found hours later in the same general area.
