Heavy rain resulted in flooded streets in Abilene on Thursday after the storm hit about 7 a.m.
Flash Flood Warnings remain in effect until 12:30 p.m. for northeastern Runnels, northwestern Coleman, southeastern Taylor, and southwestern Callahan counties. Heavy rainfall continues across parts West Texas.
Rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches expected in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Earlier Thursday, flood advisories were in effect for northern Taylor, northwestern Callahan, and southeastern Jones County until 9 a.m.
One to 1.5 inches of rain fell in short period of time. Small hail remained a possibility.
At 8:15 a.m., Pioneer Drive from South 1st to South 14th was completely flooded at 8:15 a.m.
At 8:20 a.m., there were reports of stalled cars at South Clack and Edgemont. In addition, police dispatch was reporting there wasn't enough equipment to close all the high-water areas in the city.
At about 8:30 a.m., Abilene police issued the following Twitter message: "Traffic Alert: avoid high water areas: S 27th & Treadaway; S 29th & Treadaway; Clack & Edgemont."
