Most City of Abilene offices and community centers will be closed on July 4.
The Abilene Animal Shelter will be closed. It will re-open on July 5, at 10 a.m. and resume regular hours. If you have and Animal Control issues, contact the Abilene Police.
The Solid Waste Services division will also be closed, but all commercial and residential container collection will remain on schedule. Bulk and brush collection will resume on July 7.
The City Link office will remain closed as well.The fixed routes and paratransit services will not run.
The Municipal Court will be closed and open its doors on July 7.
Even with the fireworks, the Abilene Zoo will be open to the public from 9 to 5 p.m., last admission is at 4 p.m.
The Water Service Center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will accept payment for new customers needing water or delinquent payments. For any water emergencies, sewer problems, and ordinance violations citizens can call the water service hotline at 325-676-6000.
Other closings for July 4 will include City Hall, Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District, all Abilene Public Libraries, Abilene Civic Center, the Development Corporation of Abilene, the Airport Administration Office and City and Senior Citizen Centers.
