ABILENE, Texas -

Calls are streaming in Friday morning to window installation shops for repairs at homes with broken windows across Abilene. That's after large hail busted out hundreds of windows during Thursday night's substantial hailstorm.

Tim Nelson, general manager at Abilene Glass and Mirror said by 8:15 a.m. Friday, his business already had a list of homeowners needing window repairs.

However, he wanted to let folks know getting a window repaired in the next couple of days is unlikely.

Nelson explained most home windows are double-paned and will require a replacement that has to be ordered in from the Metroplex. Nelson said that, along with scheduling installation, will take a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, Nelson urged homeowners to board or tape up windows that need repair, then call a window repair shop to get on a list for service.
