SNYDER, Texas -

The projected oil boom on the west side of the Big Country is quickly approaching and housing developers are starting to take aim at opportunities that could come along with it.

Thursday was the grand opening of Custom Touch Lodges, workforce housing, in Snyder.

The largest of the workforce housing communities built by Turn Key Solutions is in Snyder because developers foresee so many jobs in the area.

With the Cline Shale, a group of oil fields that is projected to be one of the largest in the world, just starting to get drilled and a new natural gas plant being built in Colorado City, the developers felt that Snyder is right in the middle of some very large growth.

President of Turn Key Solutions Dave Ferguson started building Custom Touch Village 60 days ago.

“The demand is definitely there it's on the early stages of the drilling, but there are over 3,600 permits that have been permitted for drilling here in the Cline Shale," said Ferguson.

Full of RVs, one and two bedroom lodges the village offers oil field workers a place to call home.

"If you've ever been to any other workforce housing they're truly man camps and we don't use the term man camp in our language, we basically build a high end high quality product," Ferguson said.

Scurry County Judge Ricky Fritz said it’s an exciting time for Snyder.

"You can already feel something moving and properties being bought and sold and there's land being cleared and so I think this is a really good example, just the first step, and the first thing were going to see," said Fritz.

Fritz said this is the first workforce housing development in the Cline Shale. And with oil companies chomping at the bit to get started it shouldn't be long before the lodges are filled up and sold out.

"I won't mention names, but we've had one client that requested 170 beds. We had another client requesting 40 beds, so it’s going real well for us,” said Ferguson.
