Born and raised in Denver , Colorado , Melissa Garcia left the Rocky Mountain skyline to embrace the friendly Big Country. She feels “thrilled to be part of a news team as trustworthy as KTXS.”

Before joining KTXS in April of 2008, Melissa worked at Mile High Sports Radio as an entertainment spotlight host. During that time, she also completed a news internship at KCNC-TV in Denver . A graduate of the University of Colorado Denver , Melissa earned her Bachelor's degree in Communication and certificate in Conflict Management.

A self-proclaimed “Latinofila” and member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Melissa loves speaking Spanish and is fascinated by Latino cultures. In 2006-2007, she pursued a life long dream by studying at Marista University in the Mayan-influenced Yucatan Peninsula .

Some of Melissa's other passions are scuba diving, singing, and animals. With appreciation for creativity and unconventional thinking, Melissa feels compelled to capture and share the awe of life's most inspiring moments.
