Meteorologist Damon Lane arrived to KTXS back in April of 2005. Damon came to Abilene to serve the role of morning meteorologist for KTXS and then in September of 2006, was named Chief Meteorologist. “I am often asked how I became interested in weather. A lot of people will  find a particular event that made them interested in weather, however, mine is not so simple. To be honest, I can't think of a single event that sparked my curiosity in weather. I think it's just always been in me.”

Damon grew up in Northern Virginia, just south of Washington , D.C. until the age of 18 when he moved to Norfolk , Virginia to get his first degree in Communications/Mass Media from Old Dominion University . After graduating in under four years, Damon moved to Asheville , North Carolina where he earned his second degree in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology from The University of North Carolina at Asheville .

“Living in Texas is what a lot of meteorologists wish they could do. Where else in The United States can you find tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts and floods all wrapped into a single state?” From the “ Storm of the Century “ to Hurricane Ivan, Damon has experienced it all. Damon Lane is a m ember and seal holder of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. When Damon is not at work, he enjoys snow-skiing, aviation, playing with his dog, Skylar, backpacking and camping. You can catch Damon every weekday evening on KTXS Live at 5, KTXS News at 6 and KTXS News at 10:00.
