Laura Madison is the anchor of the number one-rated morning newscast in the Big Country, KTXS This Morning. She also serves as the station's medical reporter. This Dallas native returned to Texas as quickly as she could. Three weeks after graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003 with a broadcast journalism degree, she joined KTXS as the weekend anchor and education reporter. On January 3, 2005 she reset her alarm clock to 3:15 am and suddenly became a "morning person". Laura pursued current events, writing and theater in high school, solidifying her decision to combine the three and become a broadcast journalist. So, she ventured north to Missouri to study journalism. While there, she did a little bit of everything - anchoring, reporting, producing (and even shooting news!) at the university-owned NBC station, KOMU. In all her spare time, she was active in the Society of Professional Journalists, Student Government and the executive council of her sorority. Kids hold a special place in Laura's heart. She volunteers with the Junior League of Abilene, helping to create a program that combats childhood obesity. Laura also serves on the Board of the Day Nursery of Abilene and attends First Central Presbyterian Church. When she's not working, you can probably find Laura catching up on much-needed sleep, reading, working out and traveling to Dallas to visit family and friends (and shop!). If you have any story ideas for Laura, especially medical stories,
please email her at lmadison@ktxs.com
