1942: Bob Ross, best known as the creator and host of the PBS show "The Joy of Painting," is born in Daytona Beach, Florida. He became famous for his iconic permed hair, quick-painting technique and catchphrases such as "happy little trees." Ross died from lymphoma at the age of 52 on July 4, 1995.
