AHS DE McMillon commits to play at Texas
Abilene High sack machine Jake McMillon has a knack for getting after opposing quarterbacks. And when he finishes his career as an Eagle next year, he will likely be a rare 4-year starter for Steve Warren.
Perhaps he will have the opportunity to be a 4-year starter for Mack Brown at the University of Texas beginning in 2014. The 6'3", 235 pound Defensive End announced his commitment to the Longhorns on Monday.
"I had it down between TCU and Texas, both great schools and coaches. What did it for me was watching them out there playing in the stadium. I mean, everything else at Texas is great," McMillon said.
The Eagle will call a unique and fellow recruit teammate as well. McMillon joins Cooper quarterback Lorenzo Joe as members of the Longhorns' 2014 recruiting class.
When asked via Twitter what Joe thought about teaming up with McMillon in college, he said, "I'm glad he jumped on board, we are going to have one heck of a recruiting class."
News of McMillon's commitment even had the attention of writers for ESPN.com's recruiting page. An article about the announcement was the top story on the web page's "headlines" list of stories for much of mid & late afternoon on Monday.
