ABILENE, Texas -

MJ Vickers has been one of the most consistent and powerful outside hitters McMurry volleyball has ever seen.

She's now McMurry’s all-time leader in kills on November 1st in McMurry’s straight set win over  UT-Permian Basin.

The achievement was so inevitable that the school began the countdown the number of kills Vickers needed the last two weeks leading into her breaking the record.

”It was a good accomplishment for me personally,” Vickers told KTXS, “but I felt like it was more of a team effort then just an individual effort not only for the team we have this year but for the teams in the past years too."

The future math teacher is also a standout in women’s basketball adding her in the elite club of War Hawks to play multiple sports.

She's now the fourth member of her family to set a record in McMurry's long athletic history...

Her mother Melissa Vickers holds the women's basketball single game scoring record.

Her oldest brother Rory Peacock is the War Hawks all-time leading receiver in football.

Her middle brother Ryder Peacock set the outdoor and indoor high jump record in track and field.

Vickers laughed after being asked who she thinks is the best athlete of her siblings.
"that's a hard one, i always made a joke that I’m glad they took care of football and track in college and i didn't have to do that so I went with volleyball and basketball."
