Hardin-Simmons’ women’s tennis team split a pair of matches on opening day, winning the season opener over LeTourneau 6-3 and losing 8-1 to Dallas Baptist.
In the season opener Amelia Cheney and Shelby Saul won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and Tram Le and Kelci Jackson won by default at No. 2 doubles to give HSU an early lead.
Angie Nhan, Cheney, Jackson and Saul all won singles matches at No 2, 4, 5 and 6 respectively. Nhan, Cheney and Jackson each won in straight sets and Saul won by default.
Against DBU Cheney and Saul won at No. 3 doubles for the only win of the dual for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls are 1-1 and will next be in action on Friday when they host Trinity.
