Hardin-Simmons’ women’s cross country team placed fifth in the American Southwest Conference Championship on Saturday at the Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Miss.
Junior Julia Holub earned all-ASC honors for the third time in her career with a ninth-place finish to pace the Cowgirls. She ran a 24:04 in the 6K race. Holub qualified for the regional meet with her top 14 finish.
Audrey Salter and Maloree Kendall finished right next to each other as Salter ran a 26:06 to place 26th and Kendall ran a 26:07 to place 27th. Jessica Thorman ran 26:33 to place 34th and Lauren Rodgers was 36th with a 26:42. Laura Brown also ran for the Cowgirls and placed 61st but was not part of the counting scores for HSU.
The Cowgirls had a total of 129. Texas Lutheran and Mississippi College finished tied for the team title with 53 points, but MC won the tiebreaker with the most head-to-head wins. Concordia was third with 60 points and Texas-Tyler fourth with 91 points.
Nicole Leman of LeTourneau won the women’s race with a time of 22:39.
The meet was the final meet of the year for the Cowgirls.
