Morris Southall teamed up with legendary Brownwood coach Gordon Wood and coached the Lions for years, including to a slew of state titles. Now, the Big Country and the football world are mourning his passing.

Southall passed away today at the age of 91.

He coached the Lions for 26 years, and several more alongside Wood at various high schools.

He is the only assistant coach ever selected as president of the Texas High School Coaches Association, and only assistant to ever coach its all-star game.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday (6-8pm) at the Davis Morris Funeral Home. There will be a private burial Monday morning before a celebration memorial at the 1st Baptist Church in Brownwood. That will begin at 1:30pm.

The Southall family will be honored with the "Legacy Award" at this year's Big Country Hall of Fame Banquet in the Spring.
