HAMLIN, Texas -

Most class A schools have a smaller sample size to choose from but Hamlin is in a perdicament even more uniwue than that. They are returning just four seniors. The school that was able to make the post season in 2011 does not have lowered expectations though, coach Russell Lucas spoke with KTXS about it Wednesday after practice.

"We're very proud of our seniors, they've been with us the whole time i've been here just about. Carlos moved in his Sophmore year. There's not many of them but they're good kids and they are good players for us. It's very important that they have a good senior year," said Lucas.

And the seniors themselves have high expectations, "We had 5, now we're down to 4 seniors. It'll be a little bit of a struggle but that just means we have to work that much harder," Senior quarterback Taylor Lambert said, "We need to make the playoffs and win a game."

That's quite a statement from one of the leaders of a team that was rich in seniors in 2011. Another of the returners, Carlos Gonzalez has similar expectations, "Seeing improvements on last year would be good to see because we have a younger group like i said. Then making the playoffs would be good. thats what every team wants to see."

2011 was good to Hamlin and but they were left wanting more. The squad has been left wanting with such a large graduating class but if the underclassmen are as good as advertised and if senior leadership counts for anything, Hamlin should not be written off.
