Lineberry joins ACU teammate Gale in all-star game
Former ACU placekicker Morgan Lineberry has been added to the roster for next month's Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game, which will be played at Eagle Stadium.
Lineberry – who last month played in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl in Myrtle Beach, S.C. – joins former ACU teammate Mitchell Gale on the Texas squad, which will take on collegiate standouts from around the nation on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 1:30 p.m.
A Dallas native and 2009 graduate of Lakehill Prep Academy, Lineberry left ACU as its all-time leader in field goals made with 50 and its third-leading point scorer with 290 points. Only ACU Hall of Fame running back Wilbert Montgomery (422) and kicker Matt Adams (339) scored more points as a Wildcat than Lineberry.
Lineberry also holds the school record for field goals in a season with 21 in 2001 and he's the only kicker in program history to make four field goals of 50 yards or more in a career.
"We were blessed to have Morgan here at ACU," said Collums. "He is as quality a person as he is a kicker and could make all the kicks required during the course of a game. Morgan also has been a consistent leader for our program on the field, in the locker room and across campus."
The Wildcats finished their 2012 season earlier this month with a 7-4 record, giving the program its 25th season of at least seven wins and seventh straight (2006-12).
