The McMurry University men's soccer team held their third annual alumni game on Saturday afternoon at Edwards Field.
A total of 14 alumni from all over the state of Texas laced up their cleats and joined the 38 War Hawks players on the field. “It was great to see all of the alumni came back and show their support for the program,” said third-year head coach Paul Tate, who himself suited up and played in goal for the alumni for the first half of the contest.
“This is the third season we have done this event, and it is a great way for our players to get to know the alumni, as well as for the alumni to get to share some of their experiences with our team.”
Over 50 spectators came to watch War Hawks past and present square off, and coach Tate was very pleased with the turnout for the event.
“It was a great day for the team as a whole, the program really appreciated the support shown by both the fans and the alumni as a whole.”
