Islanders 4, Devils 3 (SO): Matt Moulson scored the game winner in the sixth round of the shootout as New York spoiled New Jersey's home opener.Following a scoreless but entertaining overtime, both teams went without a goal for the first five rounds of the shootout. New Jersey's sixth shooter, Jaromir Jagr, was denied while trying to go five-hole on Islanders netminder Evgeni Nabokov and Moulson ended things on the Islanders' next attempt, flipping a shot past New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur on the blocker side.Michael Grabner scored twice in regulation while Frans Nielsen added a third-period goal and Nabokov finished with 26 saves. Damien Brunner had a pair of goals for New Jersey, while Michael Ryder also scored and Brodeur turned aside 23 shots.Brunner opened the scoring 2:59 into the first period after swatting a loose puck past Nabokov. Grabner evened things at 8:07 with a low shot that slid beneath a prone Brodeur, but Ryder put the Devils back in front 4:46 into the second with a well-placed shot from the slot after New York failed to clear the zone.Grabner tied the game for a second time at 13:43, beating Brodeur between the pads on a partial breakaway. Nielsen and Brunner traded goals early in the third period, and Brodeur preserved the tie with a glove save on a Pierre-Marc Bouchard shot from in close - one of several sensational stops in the final frame.GAME NOTEBOOK: Islanders F John Tavares, who was named team captain on Sept. 9, finished with a minus-one rating and four shots . ...
