Mariners 12, Rays 5: Stefen Romero went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs, Mike Zunino and Justin Smoak also homered and Felix Hernandez won for the first time since April 11 as host Seattle recorded a season best for runs while rolling past Tampa Bay.James Jones scored three runs while Smoak, Robinson Cano and Corey Hart had two RBIs apiece as the Mariners built a nine-run lead while handing the Rays their sixth loss in seven games. Hernandez (4-1) struck out seven and was charged with four runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Hernandez was one out away from tossing seven shutout innings until Ryan Hanigan smacked a three-run double into the left-center field gap to end his night. David DeJesus followed with a run-scoring double off Tom Wilhelmsen before Seattle's 14-hit offensive explosion was capped in the eighth by Romero's solo blast off the second-deck façade in left and Smoak's two-run opposite-field shot to left prior to Hanigan recording his fourth RBI of the contest with a single in the ninth. Romero stroked a run-scoring single in the first inning off Cesar Ramos (1-2) and Cano and Hart followed by slamming run-scoring hits off the top of the fence as Seattle scored three in the frame. Both drives were reviewed and Cano's hit was ruled a double while Hart was given a single as he was thrown out at second during the confusion on whether or not his drive had cleared the wall.The Mariners took advantage of three Tampa Bay errors during a five-run second inning that began with Zunino's homer and included a run-scoring double by Romero and Kyle Seager's RBI single.
